Where Science Meets Myth

Deep in the mountains of Flores, hidden above the clouds, lies one of the most astonishing natural wonders on Earth – Kelimutu. Not one, but three crater lakes, each a different color, shifting over time from turquoise to blood red to emerald green. The local Lio people believe these are the resting places of souls – of the young, the old, and the wicked. Our Kelimutu Lake Tour Package takes you to this mystical peak and beyond, into the heart of authentic Flores.

🌋 The Three Sisters

  • Tiwu Ata Mbupu (Lake of the Elders) – Usually deep blue or greenish. The souls of the wise and old rest here.

  • Tiwu Nuwa Muri Koo Fai (Lake of the Young) – Often turquoise or green. The gathering place of youthful souls.

  • Tiwu Ata Polo (Bewitched Lake) – Known to change from red to dark brown. The final home of those who practiced magic.

Scientists say volcanic gases cause the color shifts. The locals say… you'll have to decide for yourself.

🌄 Sunrise at the Summit

The highlight? A pre-dawn trek to Kelimutu's viewpoint. Stand at 1,639 meters above sea level as the sun rises over three impossible lakes, mist swirling between them. The silence is broken only by wind – and your own disbelief. This is not a sunrise. It's a spiritual experience.

Beyond the Lakes – Flores Uncovered

Your journey doesn't end at the crater rim. We take you deeper into Flores' raw beauty and living traditions:

🛖 Bena Traditional Village – Step into a megalithic village unchanged for centuries. Ancient stone altars, ikat weaving, and traditional Ngada houses with towering roofs. Meet elders who still perform ancestral rituals.

💙 Blue Stone Beach – A hidden cove near Moni village where volcanic rocks glow in shades of sapphire and cobalt against turquoise water. Perfect for photos and quiet reflection.

💦 Sano Nggoang Crater Lake – The largest crater lake in Flores, with sulfuric turquoise water surrounded by dense jungle. Optional hot spring soak nearby.

🌿 Artiaga Waterfall – A twin waterfall cascading into a cool, refreshing pool. A hidden gem few tourists see.

🎨 Ikat Weaving Workshop – Watch master weavers create intricate patterns that tell stories of ancestry and nature. You can even try weaving yourself and take home a genuine Flores ikat.
